Life is rough. Everyone is always going and going. Between working, families, soccer games, holidays, family gatherings, weddings, etc. we all need recovery time. Sometimes, we need a vacation to recover from our own vacations since we try to cram in as many sightseeing opportunities and visits to amusement parks and the list goes on.  As I get older, I long for a vacation that is first and foremost about relaxation.

Vacation Go-To Spot

Tidelands on the Intracoastal Main Entrance

My go-to vacation spot for rest, relaxation and serenity is a community on the Intracoastal in Florida named the Tidelands.  Nestled in between Daytona Beach and St. Augustine, Palm Coast is on the Eastern seaboard.  We bought a condo there as an investment in our future- mainly our ‘retirement’ home. My in-laws retired to the Palm Coast area over ten years ago and we would visit them every year. After the 2008 financial crisis, we thought it would be an excellent time to start looking at properties. It took several years researching real estate and we finally purchased a condo that has become our spot for vacation a couple of times each year.

My mom and I recently returned from a ten-day retreat to our condo on the Intracoastal. As a gift for mother’s day and birthday, I took my mom to Palm Coast. She visits my in-laws every year and stays with them. This year, we stayed at the Tidelands. During our time there, my two sisters and niece came down for a long weekend-also their first stay there. A girl’s trip filled with fun and relaxation!

One Mile Trail Around the Tidelands Community

Each morning began with a walk/jog/run on the trail and/or a workout in the gym.   After a breakfast protein shake, we headed out to the Intracoastal Waterway (ICW) pool – the community has 2 pools, 1 on the Intracoastal and 1 at the clubhouse.  The pool areas have a look and feel of a resort, which is just beautiful and of course relaxation!

The inside has a fully equipped kitchen, 3 bedrooms, and 2 full bathrooms-perfect for the 5 of us. In the morning, my niece would often sit on the balcony enjoying a morning beverage overlooking the beautiful scenery and everyone could pack light because of the in-condo washer and dryer!

After a long day at the beach (there are many super close), running a 5k in the blistering heat, or being at the pool all afternoon, we all retreated to the hot tub. When we were in Mexico many years ago, we were told that to take away the ‘burn’ in sunburn you go into the hot tub for 15 minutes or so. I really do think it lessens the burn and either way who doesn’t like to relax in a hot tub – there are 2 to choose from!

Looking to Getaway?

If you are looking for a relaxing getaway in the warm state of Florida, visit the Tidelands on the Intracoastal! It is truly a relaxing community that is close to many attractions…St. Augustine, Daytona Beach, Flagler Beach, World Golf Village, countless golf courses, shopping, etc.

You won’t need a vacation from your vacation!

This is my condo and when my family and I are not vacationing here, we make it available for guests to rent. This blog post contains a link(s) that will provide additional information regarding the condo and cost to stay. Click here for more information!

  1. Beautiful! If only there was a close getaway location like this near me (in MN) hah! I think it’s time for a trip down to Florida 🙂

    1. It is a bit warm down there now! I always wait until it’s cold and dreary up North – I just can’t seem to get there during the summer –

  2. This is great! I live in Florida and never thought of this location. It’s great to have options close enough to get away, but you don’t need the hassle of a long trip!

  3. Thanks for sharing this! I think that taking a break or a getaway is as important as working hard. We need to destress ourselves to keep us motivated and inspired. This place looks really relaxing and just perfect to unwind.
